How we write, check and use AI
Every guide, fault-code page and translation on skanyx.com is produced by the small team that builds the Skanyx app. This page explains who writes what, where AI tools are used, how facts are checked, and what to do if you find a mistake.
Who writes the content
Skanyx is a Lithuanian company founded in 2024. The people writing and reviewing this site are the engineers who build the app and who keep two BMW 5 Series of their own on the road: an E60 535d and a pre-facelift E61 535. Content is published under the Skanyx Team byline because it is reviewed as a team, not because it is anonymous.
How we use AI
We use large language models to help draft, structure and translate content. Nothing is published straight from a model: the team edits every draft and cuts any claim it cannot support. Our own app uses AI to interpret fault codes, so we hold the site to the same standard we ask of the app: plain language, sourced numbers, no invented experience.
How facts are checked
Repair costs are EU ranges compiled from published parts prices, workshop price lists and repair-cost guides, then rounded. Fault-code definitions follow the SAE J2012 standard. Where a figure comes from a specific study or vendor page, the post names it in the Sources list at the end. Competitor prices are checked against each vendor's own pages. We do not describe tests we did not run, and we only speak first-hand about the two cars we own.
When dates change
A published date is the day a page went live. An updated date changes only when the substance of a page changes, not for link, formatting or wording edits. Fault-code pages show the date their cost data was compiled.
What Skanyx can and cannot do
Skanyx is a generic OBD2 app that works with standard ELM327 adapters. It reads standard powertrain and emissions data. It does not code modules, read manufacturer-only channels such as DPF soot mass, or access EV battery cell data, and our guides say so wherever that limit matters. If a page overstates the app, that is an error and we want to hear about it.
Translations
Non-English pages are translated from English with AI assistance and then checked in a native-language review pass. Where the topic calls for it, they use the country's own terms, inspection names and price format. Prices are quoted in euros. Translation errors are still possible; the English page is the reference version.
Corrections
If you find a wrong figure, a wrong engine code or a claim you can disprove, write to support@skanyx.com with the page URL. We correct confirmed errors within a few days and note the change on the page when it is material.
