P0237 on Ford: Causes, Symptoms and Fix Cost
Quick Answer
Not safe to drive
P0237 on a Ford means the boost pressure sensor's signal voltage has fallen under the lowest value the engine computer will accept, so the computer reads an impossibly low boost pressure, stops trusting the sensor and usually limits power. Unlike P0299, it does not mean the turbo is really making too little boost. It is usually an electrical fault: an unplugged or corroded connector, a broken 5 V supply wire, a signal wire shorted to ground, or a failed sensor.

The Quick Answer above is the generic definition. What follows is the model-specific detail for the Ford models that log P0237.
Ford Fiesta ST 1.6 EcoBoost
2013-2018
Ford's workshop information for the Fiesta ST's 1.6 EcoBoost lists two pressure sensors: a MAP sensor on the engine and a combined turbocharger boost pressure and charge air temperature sensor that is removed with the car on a hoist, held by one retainer and a single connector. P0237 concerns the combined sensor. Because pressure and temperature share that one plug, a charge air temperature fault logged at the same time makes the plug or harness a better first suspect than the sensor.
What causes P0237 on a Ford?
Beyond the generic causes listed on the main P0237 page, these are the patterns noted for Ford models:

How to diagnose P0237 on a Ford with OBD2
Follow these steps to pinpoint the root cause of P0237:
- Read all stored codes and the freeze frame. If P0299 is stored as well, check whether boost really was low before blaming the sensor. If other sensor circuit-low codes appear together, suspect a shared 5 V supply or ground rather than the boost sensor itself.
- Switch the ignition on without starting the engine and read the boost or MAP value on a generic OBD2 reader, if your engine reports it. With nothing pressurising the intake it should match the air pressure outside, about 95 to 105 kPa near sea level. A figure close to zero confirms the low signal.
- Look at the sensor plug: press it until it clicks, then check inside for green corrosion, water, oil and terminals that have backed out of the housing.
- Follow the harness for chafing or a break where it runs near the turbo, brackets or the charge pipe.
- With the ignition on, a multimeter should show about 5 V on the supply pin and a good ground. No supply points to a wiring or supply fault, and a good supply with a dead signal points to the sensor.
- Where the sensor is easy to reach, unplug it with the ignition on and watch the reading. On many engines the computer pulls an open signal line high, so a reading that jumps to maximum shows the wiring back to the computer is intact and the sensor itself is dragging the signal down. A reading that stays near zero with the sensor unplugged points to a signal wire shorted to ground in the harness.
- After the repair, clear the code and road-test under load, confirming the boost reading rises smoothly and the code stays away.
